Middle school staff and students invited to Digital Download Open House Feb. 16
The Voorheesville Public Library
will be available on Thursday, Feb. 16, during periods 5,6,7 in the
middle/high school library to provide individual hands-on help learning
how to download eBooks or audiobooks to a variety of devices. This is an
Open House available to all students and faculty. Sign-up is not
required. Please stop by during your lunch period to visit, look at the
devices and ask questions. All devices will be provided.

Middle and high school Team Jeopardy Night, March
1
Come join us for Team Jeopardy Night on Thursday, March 1 when
the students try to outwit the teachers and the teachers try to outwit
each other. The fun begins at 7 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center. Will
Team Franchini beat Team Abbasi? Will middle and high school students
beat them all? The event is a fundraiser for the high school Drama Club
and baseball team. Admission is $5 at the door.

Farm to School teams up with middle school's BBTV
Chef Molino snack series featured during Friday daily
announcements
(Feb. 11, 2012) The Farm to School (F2S) initiative
has teamed up with Voorheesville Middle School's BBTV. A series of
cooking videos with F2S guest chef, Brian Molino, are now part of the
morning announcements. The series airs on Fridays, starting Feb. 10,
with the second and third scheduled to air on Feb. 17 and March 2.

"Daily Announcements" now includes video
By clicking on the "Daily
Announcements" link to the right, you can now access the video produced
each day by our very own BBTV (Blackbird Television), which stars VMS
students.
VMS will now mail report cards home
Voorheesville Middle School will no
longer send report cards home with students beginning with second
quarter report cards. This marking period ends on Jan. 27 and report
cards are scheduled to be mailed home on Feb. 8. Progress reports for
the third and fourth quarter will still be given to students to bring
home.
Seventh-grader wins district spelling bee
Voorheesville Middle School seventh-grader Ryan Burczak has
clenched the title of "Voorheesville Spelling Bee Champion." He will
represent Voorheesville at the Capital Region Spelling Bee at Proctor's
Theater in Schenectady on Tuesday, Feb. 7.

Four Voorheesville students winners in Times Union Holiday Card Contest
Four Voorheesville students have been selected as winners
in the Times Union's annual Holiday Card Contest. The artwork of
Carl Treiber, grade 7, Kaylynn Lawson, grade 11, Ilyssa Simsek, grade
12, and Faith Cunningham, grade 9 are among the winning entries chosen
from each grade level, K-12. Faith was also the grand prize winner
overall.

Middle School main entrance
A camera and buzzer have been installed for the main
entrance of Voorheesville Middle School. VMS parents and guardians may
now begin using the middle school main entrance throughout the day,
including to drop-off and pick-up their child, enter the building for
meetings, and to drop-off materials for their child. Parents/guardians
should still contact the attendance office (765-3314, extension 200) to
report if their child is absent.
