Introducing the Voorheesville Elementary School Weather Station
(August 16, 2011) Voorheesville Elementary School is
now home to a newly installed weather station! This summer, VES and
SUNY Albany's
Atmospheric Sciences Research Center (ASRC) collaborated on the
initiative that will provide curriculum connections at all grade levels.
Since weather, seasons and climate are an integral part of the
elementary science and social studies curriculum, Principal Tom Reardon
is excited about the weather station and the opportunities it will
provide for students.
"The weather station will allow students to engage in locally designed
critical thinking activities," he said. "Classes will have the
opportunity to analyze, track and manipulate the available data, while
also visiting the weather station first-hand to observe how it works."
Mr. Reardon would like to thank Dr. Fitzjarrald, the father of VES second
grader Leon, and his staff at ASRC for partnering with Voorheesville
Elementary. "Our partnership with ASRC is a classic case of
school-community working together!"

edge of school property, we ask everyone for their cooperation and
refrain from going near the equipment.
