District sets tax rates
August 30, 2011 – At its meeting on August 15,
the Voorheesville Central School District Board of Education approved a
school tax levy increase of 2.07 percent for 2011-12. The new school tax levy
for 2011-12 equals $15,235,643. In addition, residents will be billed
for the Public Library tax levy of $1,030,596 (4.4%).
Because of the changes in the state's equalization
rates and assessment values for each town, the impact of school taxes is felt differently in
the three towns--New Scotland, Guilderland and Berne--that make up the
Voorheesville School District. The new tax rates, including library
taxes, are shown as follows
per $1,000 of assessed property value and the percent change each
represents:
-
New Scotland - school $17.99 (1.43%)
Library $1.22 (3.67%)
-
Guilderland - school $20.02 (2.15%)
Library $1.35 (4.40%)
-
Berne - school $26.98 (0.35%) Library
$1.83 (2.56%)
Tax bills will be mailed September 1 and are
due September 30, 2011 without penalty. From October 1 through October
31, 2011, in accordance with Section 2130 of the Education Law and
Section 1328 of the Real Property Tax Law, penalty will be charged at a
rate of 2 percent. No collections will be accepted after October 31,
2011.
