Middle school Builders Club sells "Bells for Life" to benefit Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Albany Medical Center

(Dec. 22, 2011) After working with the Kiwanis Club to collect food for its food pantry for Thanksgiving, Voorheesville Middle School's Builders Club teamed up again with the Kiwanis to sell "Bells for Life" in December to benefit the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit of The Children's Hospital at Albany Medical Center.

Members raised $150 by selling the "Bells" in school and helped the Kiwanis Club raise $575 by selling "Bells" at Crossgates Mall.

Club advisor Mrs. Lisa Spadinger would like to acknowledge Katie Hewitt, who she said sold almost half of the bells. "Katie is an enthusiastic and motivating member of the Builders Club who is committed to doing her best," she said.

Spadinger would like to thank Joe Stewart for donating $30 to "Bells" and the students who volunteered at the boys JV and Varsity basketball games: Katie Hewitt, Noah Martin, Ian Burham, Cathleen Rivenburg, Summer Hess, Caitlin Steembock and Chris Jarrett.

"It feels good to know we are helping families who unfortunately have or sick injured child in the hospital," said seventh-grader Hewitt.
